“Be lifted up” say the Rabbi’s when they discuss the Gematria they see those things that draw things ‘closer’ or ‘nearer’ to each other – they point to Numbers 21 and see the ‘drawing closer together’ of -

  1. the Snake, which is (Strong’s H5175 - ‘nachash’(נחש) – Nun = 50, Chet = 8, Shin = 300 = 50 + 8 + 300 = 358
  2. the Messiah in Hebrew (Strong’s H4899 - ‘Mashiach’ - משיח )– Mem = 40, Shin = 300, Yod = 10  Chet = 8 - 40 + 300 + 10 + 8 = 358

Because of the same Gematria for the Snake and the Messiah Rabbi’s and Messianic Jews speak of the ‘Killer’ becoming the ‘Healer’ and refer to “looking up and watching טHim very well – He is the One who can not only ‘kill’ us but ‘heal’ us although He has been ‘bit’ Himself (Numbers 21 v 8/9).

The Hebrew word for ‘Breastplate’ is ‘chosen’ (Strong’s H2833 חשן) found in Exodus 28 v 22 – the Gematria for the ‘chosen’ is also 358 – the ‘breastplate’ on which all the twelve tribes of Israel were engraved.

The ‘anointing’ המשחה Exodus 25 v 6 also has the Gematria of 358! For the Rabbi’s all of these numbers point to the identity of the Messiah of Israel!

‘CHET’ to ‘NUN’ – FROM ‘ABUNDANT LIFE’ TO ‘ACTIVITY’ AND ‘REPRODUCTION’ – JUBILEE!

A FEW HEBREW WORDS WITH ‘CHET’ FOUND IN THEM

8 - Chet – ח – Abundant life – in Paleo Hebrew the ‘chet’ represents the ‘fence’ – its numerical value is 8

9 - Teth – ט – A matter of ‘life’ and ‘death’

10 -Yod – י – The hand of God

11 -Kaf – כ – God’s work in Yeshua the Messiah of Israel – its numerical value is 20

12 – Lamed – A ‘light’ in the world – its numerical value is 30

13 – Mem – מ - Living waters – its numerical value is 40

14 – Nun – ג – Humility, fish, activity, reproduction – its numerical value is 50

If we look at the Hebrew word Elhoim (Genesis 1 v 1) – אלהים it has an interesting link to the Hebrew letter ‘chet’.

Aleph – אלף  Aleph = 1, Lamed = 30, Pey soffit = 80 add the numbers together – 1 + 30 + 80 = 111

Lamed – למד = Lamed = 30, Mem = 40, Dalet = 4 add the numbers together 30 + 40 + 4 = 74

Hey – הי = Hey = 5,Yod = 10 – add the numbers together 5 + 10 = 15

Yod – יוד = Yod = 10, Vav = 6, Dalet = 4 – add the numbers together 10 + 6 + 4 = 20

Mem – מם = Mem = 40, Mem = 40 – add the numbers together 40 + 40 = 80

ELHOIM may also represent by its Gematria the ‘remnant’

Add all five totals together of the Hebrew letters that make up the word Elhoim = 111 + 74 + 15 + 20 + 80 = 300 – 300 is the number of the ‘remnant’ in Scripture – think of Gideon and his 300 men (Judges 7 v 6) – 300 is also the number of one of the dimensions of the Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6 v 15) – the length of the Ark was 300 cubits – the anointing oil of the woman who anointed Messiah’s feet was of the value of 300 denari – in typology she represented the Godly ‘remnant’ of those who recognised Jesus as the Christ and the Messiah of Israel (Mark 14 v 4/`5).

Chet is the letter of ‘LIFE’ – if the word for life חי (chai) has the Yod extended to a Vav חן it becomes ‘chen’ which means ‘grace’ – we read “But Noah found grace (‘chen’ Strong’s H2580) in the eyes of Jehovah.” (Genesis 6 v 8).

The link with the Hebrew Gematria of the letter ‘chet’ is found in the name of the man who had been called to build the Ark to be saved during the coming judgement was Noah – נח – Nun 50 + Chet 8 = 58 – when these two Hebrew letters are reversed they become ‘chen’ the number of ‘grace/favour’ כן – Chet = 8, Nun soffit = 50 = 58.

The letter ‘Chet’ has the numerical value of 8 – there were 8 people saved on the Ark (1 Peter 3 v 20) – Chet has an association with REST the meaning of Noah’s name, LIFE and GRACE as seen in Chen - חן – ‘chen’ = Grace, favour – the word picture created here is a ‘fence’ or a ‘protector of life’ (like a fence that surrounds a garden) – interesting the Hebrew word for ‘the garden’ is ‘הגן’ ‘hagan’ also has the numerical value of 58 the same as Noah, Grace and Life! Hallelujah!

אח – ‘ach’ = Brother – the word picture tells us that a ‘brother’ protects like a ‘strong fence’ (Genesis 4 v 9).

חסה – ‘cha -sah’ = Refuge or ‘to trust in’ – the Hebrew Word Picture says that ‘refuge’ is the ‘fence of support’.

חבר – Companion = ‘cha-ver’ = Psalm 119 v 57/64 – we read “The cords of the wicked have encircled me, but I have not forgotten Thy TORAH.” (verse 61) “I am a companion ( חבר  ‘cha-var’ ) of all those who fear Thee, and of those who keep Thy precepts.” (verse 63) in Hebrew Word pictures says that a ‘comrade’ is the ‘bosom person’.

The letter ‘Chet’ has the numerical value of 8 – there were 8 people saved on the Ark (1 Peter 3 v 20) – Chet has an association with REST the meaning of Noah’s name, LIFE and GRACE as seen in Chen.

How interesting that in Paleo Hebrew the picture is of a ‘fence’ representing ‘to separate, to cut off from and to protect’ – think of those who found ‘safety’ on the Noah’s Ark.

Three ways to say ‘life’ – most common form ‘ח’ = but there are two other forms found in the Torah scrolls – these three illustrate the spiritual, soulish and physical life of an individual.

  1.  The normal ‘chet’ ח represents the physical form – the body/flesh – ‘will be saved’
  2. The first elaborate form has a zayin (seventh letter, type of the sword) and a vav (6th letter, the number of man, but the vav is hooked to One who has a ‘crown’ by a ‘hook’ (Matthew 11 v 28/20) this speaks of our ‘soulish’ realm and represent that the work of Redemption continues in our life after salvation -  ‘being saved’ speaks of the soul (mind, will, emotions, our personality) – the number of man hooked up to the Zayin (Sword of the Spirit - 6 + 1 = Spiritual perfection and completion.
  3. The last most elaborate form is made up of two ‘zayin’s – which represents‘been saved’ will be the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God speaking of God being both our protection and our nourisher – a picture of the believer already being ‘yoked’ to Christ in the Holy Spirit!
