Missions

Today about 200 million people do not have the Biblical Teaching/Scripture in their own language. More than 2,200 language communities still do not have true access to even one verse of Scripture.

Biblical translation is foundational to Zarephath Ministries. Why eventually leads to evangelism, discipleship and church planting. It leads to transformed lives as people learn to become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

There is a truly heart rending account of the value and sacrifice involved with the production and privilege of owning a bible in your mother tongue given in John Paton’s book …. “The consecrated brain and hand of their Missionaries kept toiling day and night in translating the book of God; and the willing hands and feet of the Natives kept toiling through fifteen long but unwearying years, planting and preparing arrowroot to pay the £1,200 required to be laid out in the printing and publishing of the book.  Year after year the arrowroot, too sacred to be used for their daily food, was set apart as the Lord’s portion; the Missionaries sent it to Australia and Scotland, where it was sold by private friends, and the whole proceeds consecrated to this purpose.”

The majority of the communities that do not have access to the Word of God also are not allowed to express their faith openly.

Since the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago over a staggering 70 million Christians have become martyrs.

But what's even more staggering is that, according to the one estimate, over 45 million, or two-thirds of all Christian martyrs, died in the twentieth century.

According to another estimate, more than 200 million Christians face persecution each day 60% are children.
